“They love the soil which makes their graves, but have no sympathy with the spirit which may still animate their clay.” Henry David Thoreau, (1817 – 1862).

My work centers on media-based applications that encourage user participation and engagement.

I enjoy solving challenges in content management and publishing through insights derived from information science.  I am motivated by the affordances of social media, new design paradigms for information products, and social engagement.  I have extensive knowledge of descriptive metadata standards, linked data modeling, and semantic web technologies.  Amid the wreckage of LPs, 8-track tapes, cassettes, CDs, and DVDs, I have gained an appreciation for complex intellectual property and rights management issues.   I possess engineering expertise ranging from network routing to the user interface.  My first networked computer system was the CDC Plato; my first programming language was APL; my first entry in the DNS whois was a WELL account, long gone.
